I personally agree with a lot of the rules brought forward, however it is not my decision but thank you very much for working so hard at it Roy. I wanted to bring up the racism rule. I agree that people should be allowed to say what they will, however if you allow people to say what they will, there will be times when they go far overboard. People should be allowed to say what they want as long as its not being over done or aggressively attacking / directing insults at specific people. The idea of this community is to be a community where everyone can enjoy it. If you have people who come on and get insulted till they log off, why would they bother playing? I want people to be allowed to say what they want. But I don't want players to be attacked.

Roy's rules are fairly fleshed out, as far as I can tell they are a good starting point for the second Season of the server. They're broad enough to apply to most circumstances yet specific enough to where loopholes will take some work to pull off successfully. Of course no rule set is infallible but amending the rules will come with their implementation and practice. For now, I'd say we run with them and see where it takes us. But what do I know, I'm just some Geatish Roman.

I mean there’s not really a defined line between a “loophole”, a badly written rule and taking advantage of something the rules don’t state.
An example of a loophole would be if it says that you are not allowed to block passes with carts, but you think that you're a smart faggot and you block them with wheelbarrows. This is clearly some sauce and you should be banned for it.
An example of a badly written rule would be the current rule that says "outlaws may rob armour and weapons". It doesn't say that only outlaws can rob for armour/weapons, or that other factions are forbidden from doing this, it only says that outlaws may rob for armour and weapons. Even though a large majority of the community is under the assumption that only outlaws may do this, technically as the rule stands, its a poorly written rule as it doesn't forbid anybody else from doing so, so it should be re-written as only outlaws may rob for armour/weapons.
An example of something the rules don't state would be that it doesn't say that you are or not permitted to force somebody to become a slave. It doesn't state that you aren't allowed to force somebody to train serf and mine iron for you, and whether or not this against the rules or not is really a gray area, which most of these cases are, and should be ruled as such. Few of these sorts of situations are really cut and dry and have a definitive answer to them, and the rules should take precedents into account and be ever-changing so that more and more kinks can be figured out and promptly written into the rules, as Meridius says, it is a good starting point.

I don't know if Roy has the change in his rules because I didn't read them, but can we not have shield glitching while capping?

I don't know if Roy has the change in his rules because I didn't read them, but can we not have shield glitching while capping? In my suggested rules I struck that out so yes. I wouldn’t exactly call it a glitch, and even if it is I wouldn’t say it’s a very harmful one, people have been doing it for years on both EU and NA.

I do not know what "Roy's Rules" entail but I do know that the current rules are fine, yes, there are some situations that should be covered when they do arise. But punishing a player for a rule with vague details should not happen until that rule is conspicuously explained and written. To say they are too long is preposterous as many players have followed the rules of servers that surpass the length and complexity of these double fold.
But I do still think faction members should be revoked the right to rob anyone for all gold. As there has been no rational argument to defend it other than "that's not fun!". If anyone dares propose the ludicrous argument of realism than that is mere ignorance because anyone can simply commit Random Death Match in real life just as well. Especially with the potential to limit the banks having a clan around robbing people of all their gold on them is simply unfair and in poor taste of the server.

hate to agree with duckie but he has a good point. Should probs adjust the rules slightly to fit the new economy. Maybe something like the max you can get someone to drop is 30k? So if they have any more then that they are able to keep and if they have like 20k then they have 2 drop all

I was saying for people that wanted to find loopholes it would take actual work, and it wouldn't be easy, that's why I said they would take some work to pull off. To say that there were no loopholes is idiotic, there are always workarounds, only way to find them is either peerless editing and constant amending. Yet, sometimes the only way to repair a wall is to wait for it to break. Time will tell. A bit quick on the jump there though, too quick for my taste.

Exactly. No matter what you plan for there are always unintended consequences and things you aren’t going to plan for. It’s best if the upper admin team is active in editing the rules and adding them as situations arise and precedents are set. There will be cases that even experienced admins haven’t ever seen, ie. When I told somebody to sheathe weapons, but he picked one up so I killed him as I claimed he drew a weapon, nobody including master the HA knew whether my kill reason was valid or not.
As for duckies thing, my rules are on the previous page of this thread, most of the changes are simplifications to make the rules concise as they are easier to remember that way, the only major change is to the war rules, which is more akin to the Phoenix set while still including part of the 10 minute redeclare bs Clarky insists on, not going to go over it as you can just look at it yourself.
As for robbing, a couple things on that. First of all people have been halting for the whole pouch for years and nobody really has a problem with it, any implementation of a limit has been received by the community with negativity, and I see no real reason to change it. People like to halt for money, it’s a part of the game. Its the first thing that a majority of players do as often as they can and trying to force them not to be able to do that, or limiting it in any capacity is pretty stupid, because your not after their money, you’re after killing them, the money is only extra. Seeing as most gear costs more than 30k you basically get a free pass at getting away from being murdered, whereas before you had to weigh your options: carry a bunch of money so you can regear if you die while risking having to drop it during a halt, or have to run to the bank every tine you die. The guy that does the former is able to drop a measly 30k and keep his plate for stupid shit. He gets a free pass with impunity to be able to go anywhere without having to worry about having a serious dent done into his finances. Why run the chance at dying when you can just pay a quick 30k? People like being able to drop all, it’s a popular rule, nothing is wrong with it and there is no need to change it, there’s not been problems with it in years. If it’s not broken don’t fix it.
If you don’t want to get halted, put it in a bank or join a faction, that’s why they’re there. It’s like a prison, you can be on your own but you’ll probably get raped so you join a gang to protect you, but now you’re suseptible to getting attacked by the other gangs (from jampads video). People don’t like to be limited in their gameplay and most prefer as few rules as possible in order to make it a more authentic and less limited experience.
As for the bullshit wahh it’ll incentivize people to play outlaw well first of all we already gave you items/armour exclusivity and also no it fucking won’t because a majority of people who are halting for fear as mentioned previously are doing so primarily to get a kill reason on somebody, usually out of revenge, because they’re in a rival clan or because they want the persons gear, not because of the money. And this isn’t a bad thing. It sparks rivalries and throws fuel on the fire which causes clans to try harder to get the edge over the other, leading to more interesting and dedicated wars.

Well confederate again define loophole because as I mentioned in a previous post there are different types of “loopholes”, not all of which are bad or even the fault of the player. At some point the admins (or rather the people who wrote/write the rules) should take responsibility for the holes in the rules. As long as there are the raggys and the hardings around, there will be people finding ways around the rules, and the admins should be looking for these on the daily and fixing them.

Well again if you read my post I’m pretty clear that the discretion of the admins needs to be on point as few of these things are either black or white and need to be taken on a case by case basis, it’s stupid to just say every time it’s the players fault not the rules ban him.
