The Story of Tinadel
The Beginning
Long ago before time had formed laid a land called Frekal half fertile fields and half barren wastelands. This land was separated between good and evil and on one side was prosperity and peace and the other war and destruction. These lands were inhabited by the Gods all created beyond our knowledge and power. In the plush fields of Frekal was the five good gods Aeres who was peace, Lilika who was love, Eretemis who was nature, Querela who was Order and Seriea who was life. In the wastelands there laid five Evil gods Erak who was plague, Verteral who was chaos, Yerelm who was greed, Remelf who was death, and last Jama who was war. The two originals of these so called gods was Verteral and Querla or chaos and order through their actions the others had formed and as things got worse Querela separated the lands barring all evil from her half till they had settled their fighting little did she know what would become of this judgment. In the wastelands these evil gods fought every day, every second never stopping as they were gods how could a god die? But then Yerelm blessed by Aeres sent on a mission to end the fighting by Querela blessed him with the knowledge to kill the other gods deeming him the lesser of the evils, but little did she know he would take into his own. Yerelm made deals with all the gods due to his greed for simple things like rocks and dirt giving the chance of the true evil to arise. They meet in the heart of the wastelands to settle their fight once and for all. The battle lasted than any possible understanding until one was left and his name was Jama the god of war. Jama a man of blood had struck down all the gods absorbing all of their powers making him the true essence of destruction and power. Querela not knowing what has happened since her mission was caught off guard as what was to come. The magical barrier was now gone as there was no more fighting on that side and time went on without any say of the Evil gods. Querlea one day saw that nature or Eretemis was able to grow past her barrier she feared the worst but as things went on and no evil was seen she believed they all were dead. Seria ran freely never tamed as was her nature until she heard a hiss, when she turned around she saw not a man but a creature radiant in black dusk and beady red eyes like a snake, wings gold and shiny but large and with claws, it stood tall bulked with raw power, fangs as big as oceans and around its neck was the dead four gods that it had slain. Oddly though Seria who is said to be almost as beautiful as Lilika herself, was not scared nor did she run instead she herself had fallen to the nature of her sister and fell in love with this creature named Jama. Lilika new instantly something had changed and told Querela who instantly gathered the others to save her kin as she full well knew what had happened but when they would Seria her bully was large and plump slouched on a rock. She was creating life from the seed of Evil. Querlea knew that this child would break her peace instantly demanding that Eretemis kill the child as nature is both death and life, sadly all of the sisters agreed, but as they began plans to kill the child Jama the creature and essence of evil and the slayer of gods arrived slaughtering the sisters of Seria before they could kill the child and to had he absorbed their power but staying true to his nature evil was the more powerful of the sides. After the deaths of the sisters Siera was already touched by her sister Eretemis and was dying. Siera told Jama she love him and that he was to be the all father of those who are a result of what they have done. She died but was able to give birth to twins which was an animal which we now call Humans and these humans where the essence of all the gods as they were products of both good and evil and as Siera died he absorbed her powers as well becoming the all-powerful and the God of everything. Jama created a new world for this Human to live on one filled with creatures and challenges, he made ocean's, time, land, and air and called it Earth on the seventh day he sent his son and daughter to an area called Tereth which was between two large rivers forming a rich and fertile area for his children to grow.
Time Begins
From Tereth his children grew along with the other creatures that Jama had created. Humans inhabited large jungles, swamps, tundra, mountains, and islands leaving the planet alone so that it may grow on its own. But then a man named Etal denounced Jama claiming him to be an unfit god and denouncing his rule gaining massive support. Jama enraged not only punished him but punished all his children making nature ran day and night flooding the Earth and destroying all but two a man and woman. From this flood he dried the land to start anew creating new creatures like deer and rabbit and other things to challenge humans like Giants and monsters to force his children to remember him and that their deeds are because they are from his seed. Once again he placed them in Tereth which was now an island to separate them from the monsters he had created and his children grew once again. Times were good and the humans prospered but they grew weak and populous. When the time came when the humans thought they did not need him anymore he sent a vision to the man who would create the now Tinadel Clan. When Erak slept Jama came as his true form the great Dragon/Serpent giving him a vision about him sinking the island and the deed Erak was meant to do. Day came and the Island shook as Erak grabbed a boat as many others did sailing in many different directions spreading Humans around the world again. With Erak was his two sisters Lisa and Tifea and his younger brother Jeffron. They did not know where to go or were they were going as the island had sunk and all Jama said was get on a boat with your siblings. Eventually when the other boats were out of sight a wind brushed against the waters pushing Erak and his siblings to an unknown destination. Days went by with only rain water to drink and nothing to eat unless the prayed Jama for food and then he would grant them fish. On the Seventh day land came into sight and the boat smashed onto the shore on this unknown land, when Erak looked up all he saw was a large forest and nothing but howls and other odd noises. When they slept that night Jama revealed the next step of Eraks role which was to kill a creature named Herof and to challenge him all he would need to do is cut his hand and scream the creatureβs name. When Erak awoke the next morning he ate not telling his siblings and after eating he stood and told his younger brother Jeffron to draw his sword. When Jeffron did so confused Erak pulled his cutting his hand screaming HEROLF!!!! Upon screaming his name a screech ran through the land and loud huffs and poundings could be heard until the creature stood in front of them. Herolf was a massive wolf standing taller than both of them combined with a body that was half rotted away and intestines hanging out of its mouth as if it was already dead, when Erak raised his sword the monster attacked slamming its massive claws right into Erak sending him aside as it easily ripped Jeffron in two. Enraged stood and looked around for his sword but instead found two oddly large well-crafted axes in the sand of the beach one blue like ice and the other red like fire, when he picked them up he became a mad man leaping through the air latching onto the back of Herolf slamming the red axe into its back burning it alive and then the blue one freezing it and then breaking into a million pieces. After the fight he learned that the axes were sent by Jama and held a part of his power into it. These two axes and the Dragon/Serpent would later become the symbols of the clan and its people.
His Teachings
Erak breed with his two sisters in this new land taking on the name of βHoly Warriorβ which in the native language of the clan was Tinadel forming what is now known as clan Tinadel. Time passed and the Clan grew during this time Jama taught Erak the ways of wars and what it takes teaching him what is now called Erash Del Kal which means Birth of Blood. At the age of eight male children would be taken from their houses and forced into hard manual labor like wood cutting day and night or mining, when they would return home the father would beat the child. This lasted for the first three years building as childβs muscles and pain tolerance from an early age, from eleven the child would only do manual labor in the morning and be handed a weapon and taught to fight with an axe or sword as if it was his arm along with what one felt like along with partaking in any raid that the clan partakes. This lasted until they were 16 when they were deemed worthy enough for what Jama called Feral limpek Deral meaning in their language Trails of the Chosen. Only after this could one be officially part of the clan and allowed to take part in its internal affairs. This Trail was to be sent alone with no food or water and climb the mountain close to the shore, up these mountains were nothing but snow and ten pillars that told of Jamas laws and rules called the pillars and Ageris, the warrior had to remember them all. If the warrior survived for a week and returned they were allowed to be a true warrior of Jama and represent him. If you were an heir to the clan upon being finished with the trails the symbol of the clan would be engraved into your back with axes to show that you are chosen to lead. Jama showed them that defending ones family is what true warriors do and that oneβs duty is to his people to make them prosper, along with crushing his enemies and drinking their blood. Jama taught Erak and the early clan his many words and ways along with choosing his people to do his bidding.
The First Coming
Hundreds of years past and the world was as we know now and the Tinadels found themselves to be part of the Jumane nords on the far eastern shores were the thick woods laid. The Clan was seen to be barbaric even by the Nord standards and often left the Clan be. Due to this the Clan was very isolated believing themselves to be a different kind of Nord within itself, their language formed differently and even so much as their customs. Garaglash the now leader of the Clan decided it was time the world knew the name Tinadel and feared it. He gathered all the clansmen and formed the first major Tinadel war band. He loaded the men on the boats flying the two axe crossed banner on his sails. They sailed to Calradia where the Nords have just started to invade. When the Tinadels arrived the Nords only had one city and they called it Sargoth, they landed for supplies and then did what no clan dared, they marched into the heart of the Vaegir lands fighting thick snow and battles. Four years went by and the Tinadels had sacked and looted more than thirty towns under Garaglash hoarding the large amount of gold and silver they had acquired. Due to this the Tinadels earned a bloody reputation from mass murders to blood worshipers. Jealous the Nord High Jarl back in jumne ordered the taking of the Tinadel homeland that was on the water between to valleys surrounded by large icy mountains. When Garaglash heard of this he took his men and loot back to his ships angered and enraged. The Tinadels at this point were already a thing of myth and legend due to their crazy tendencies and the fact that no one ever really sees them. When they were close to arriving back home Garaglash sent his daughter Tereal to speak to the new owners of their homeland of Nordheim, when she arrived she found out that within the ten years they were gone the land was taken by the clan Orstof who were keen Smithers and very loyal to the High Jarl. They Orstof leader took her as a trophy wife tainting her flower as soon as she arrived. When his daughter did not return the Tinadel Jarl landed his boats up the beach far from the clan village, marching the army to the valley side. Supposedly the wind grew strong the clouds fell showing that Garaglash had the blessing of Jama to retake the homeland of his chosen. He waited till night when it grew silent and then he made his move, the poor Orstofs not knowing how close the whole Tinadel clan was in sheer shock when it heard the drums of war. In the dead of night covered in the fog the Tinadels marched to the Valley edge appearing over the hill like ghost and shadowy figures. One man stood out standing large with axe in each hand his muscles building some even say so badly that the shadows themselves could not cover him. The Orstofs sounded their horns for battle but it was already too late. The Tinadels rolled down the valley slaughtering everything even the tainted daughter of Garglash, when the battle was over and news spread it said that the Tinadels were possessed demons that fought with rage and once they smelt the blood it only grew worse. Under Garaglash the Tinadel name was feared and spread far and wide at least to the Nords.
Spreading of the Blood
Like any smart clan they grew and did it through alliances one of these being the Glendors a decently large tribe on the other side of the island, years passed of constant intermarriages forming the idea that both Clans shared a common blood in their veins. Time passed and they began to refer to each other as cousins doing many raids and wars together forming a strong bond and relationship until Derterk Glendors mass migrated the Glendors to a border land between the Nords and Swadians which explains the Glendors now mixed blood and Swadian tendencies but the understanding that Glendors and Tinadels being family never faded. Another thing that the Tinadels had where branches and there were two the Vordiacs and the Tredians. It formed a hierarchy clan tree of Tinadel as the head and the Tredains and Vordiacs below them. The Tredians formed after Garglashβs death as one of his bastard daughters was married off to a known raider that had proven himself to the Clan Tinadel during his raids with them creating an off branch of the Tinadel bloodline, in time the Tredians took after cavalry tactics adopting it as their own after they came in contact with it from Calaradia along with not adopting the religion of Jama and instead converted to the Maker. On the other side was the Vordiacs which came from a dying Clan named the Reflem, in return for feeding them the Vordiacs pledged to help the Tinadel tribe when needed but as their royal line was all dead except a female a male of the Tinadels royal bloodline married her changing the name to Vordiac. In time the Vordiacs took after Traditional ways of the Nords adopting the old gods but still not denying Jama and preferred light quick infantry. As time went on each Clan grew and with this came conflict and power struggles.
Burning of the Tree
Laban Tinadel was born under Graflem and Sliguty Tinadel, his brother Bubba, a bastard born from Graflems exploits in Calradian Nordic lands, already in his teens, and Asgirr, his second brother. This was during a very weak time in the clan itself. As Laban was still a infant, the Vordiacs saw a chance to raise their power within the tree by taking the Tredians down to level and having them under their grasp. One night, the Vordiacs ambushed the Tredians near a forest line as the Tredian leader was hunting. They killed both the chief and his wife along with a few personal guards, the Tredians were shattered and soon the Tredian son Ugrok took charge, quickly beating the sounds of drums. The clans fought time after time creating a bloody trail of bodies. The Tredians, not being able to fight the Vordiac infantry, they learned of a new weapon not appreciated by the nord culture, the horse. They used these war beasts to outmaneuver the vordiacs in a few battles, but both sides still would not break. The war between the tribes was called the war of wolf and eagle as the Vordiacs used a wolf on their banners and the Tredians the eagle. After 4 years of battle between the kin, the Tinadels stepped in and held a war council for both branches, attempting to end the hostilities, but the hatred never left. The result of this war took its tole the family tree itself laid weak and vulnerable as 2/3 of the Vordiacs and Tredians laid dead in the forests or mound battlefields. Laban, during this time lived in a world gifted by his mother, peaceful as the Tinadels remained untouched from the war and continued to prosper.
Teachings of the Shield
As he turned four his father began to slip into the life of his son, but his mother remained in charge of the child most of the time. His father began to teach his son at an early age about the importance of family, protection, and Jama. He started simply with bringing him to the top of the harshest mountain top, called Treten, to learn about their god. On top this mountain lay 7 Pillars (7 being a sacred number) called the Pillars of Treten. These pillars was one of two holy sites for the Tinadels and represented much of their culture and their past. He taught his son that life is a test for Jama to see if you are worthy of entrance to the realm of Hevain (the place where all worthy wives and warriors are welcomed after death.). He taught him that in order to keep those you love safe you must learn to sacrifice and kill, as the world we inhabit is full of trials and test. These teachings of Jama took to Laban early and was constantly spoken of until the age of 10.
Test of Jama
Manhood with a Cost
When Laban turned 16, he was a hardened man. He felt little pain, he was strong and fast, but he still had the final test that every leader of the Tinadel must take. The ritual is called Sel Feves Oshkal (Meaning the blessed cross). This ritual required healers as well as a small axe. Laban was laid on a stone altar held down by four warriors, his father entered his sight with an axe. His father placed the axe onto his son skin and began carving the Tinadel sigil all across his stomach (2 axes crossing). Laban wiggled in pain as his father from both his pecs to both his hip bones, while the healers constantly cleaned the blood and filled it with herbs that stung like stabs from a sword. As the ritual finished, Laban was passed out and woke up 3 days later, with a sore body that was still healing. When he walked out of his fatherβs hall, the clan met and cheered for the survival of their heir and the securing of the tribes position.
Makings of a Killer
A year past and Laban turned 17. The Vordiacs and Tredians, now back on their feet, did not hesitate to resume their blood feud. Once again the Vordiacs launched an attack on the Tredians, but it resulted in a failure and they lost two of their finest warriors. Upon hearing of this once again the Tinadels did not wish to get involved and the bloody war launched back into effect. This time, however, the fighting reached the Tinadels. The Vordiacs launched an attack on the Tinadels, feeling comfortable with their war on the Tredians, killing Graflem and Sliguty. Laban was enraged, quickly being made the head of the family branch, his blood lust guided him. Laban gathered every warrior the Tinadels had to offer, feared men whose love was thought to simply be to lick the blood off their weapons. The Tinadel reputation has died over the peaceful 20 years, but Laban would soon bring it back. His army arrived in the night lighting the watchful Vordiac's wooden walls on fire, then hailing hundreds of fire arrows burning their homes. The Vordiacs burned, surrounded by fire as Laban watched with vengeful eyes. When the smoked cleared he had his men kill all who was left except for one family that was entrusted in remaking the branch of the family. The Tredians, shocked at the violence of Laban soon took up arms out of fear. Laban easily put these horse lovers in their place through adapting a spear triangle tactic which enabled their horses useless, once again uniting the tree under the Tinadels. In order to celebrate his victory and his clan's traditions he added three tattoos to his body. The first was a red eagle down his back symbolizing the Tredians bloodied sigil, the next a wolf sitting with an axe on its chest meaning owned by the Tinadels and last and his most meaningful tattoo was the words Utrem Vex Dislok (meaning Death Before Dishonor in their language) on his upper back, shoulder blade to shoulder blade.
