I have made the decision to move forward in upgrading the server to a full machine. The payment for it has been made and it will take 1-3 days time for the creation of the server to be completed. It is literally as high of an upgrade as money can buy from the server provider. So, what that means is we are no longer paying $37 a month (minus the VPS SSD) and are now paying $170 a month in which we can sustain (at this moment) for about 2 and 1/2 months - which this estimate is made by viewing the balance of the paypal that is solely used to pay for the community's server expenses.
This upgrade should absolutely get rid of a large amount of lag, and it should if we're going to be paying that amount of money. I hesitate to say "all of the lag" because I'm not even sure if EU has accomplished that but it should be EXTREMELY close to 0 lag whatsoever.
I felt this was a good business decision in deciding to make this costly upgrade for the benefit of the player's experience and because it is what is expected of the SO. I hope it turns out to be a very rewarding decision for the community and allows people to play the game/mod as they envisioned it.
If you have any questions, or wish to donate to help pay for the third month of the server, feel free to message me on steam. Or, if you just have questions or comments, feel free to (politely) post below.

it upsets me that NA is doing better than EU in terms of getting regular donations

literally if 15 people donate 25 cents a day we'd be fine

Literally nothing you can do to stop lag after a certain number of players on a shitty Turkish game from 2010
But this is nice to have anyway

Of course, but if that certain number of players changes from 110-120 to about 190 (or higher) - then I think the community would appreciate that. I know its impossible to get rid of every bit of lag, but upgrades were necessary to get rid of most of it. Hope it turns out to be as beneficial as it sounds.

The full machine has been created and we are working on setting it up for actual use of the PK server - it will be operational in due time.

(Copy & pasted message from the steam announcement)
Tests were ran today on the Infinity NA Test server which is operating on the newly purchased full machine. Of course it was a small population that I picked from, but there was much more to test on this machine due to many factors. From those who participated, and from what I witnessed on the control panel of the server - everything seemed great.
Tomorrow morning the database will transfer and from then on we are good to go.
So, enjoy your last night on the virtual machine because tomorrow we will be switching to a better server box.

The server upgrade has been delayed for just a few days. While working on transferring the database to the server which is operating with the new full machine, it was noticed that the server provider created the machine with the incorrect OS version. It is imperative that this version is the same as the previous servers to avoid any probable issues that we could encounter with saving characters and more within the database. I spoke with a lot of people on the server provider side and they are reimaging the machine to the version requested so that we may use it without any problems. I received an email and was informed that the reimaging will conclude by tomorrow (5/31). When that is completed, we will work to transfer the database to the new server so that the newly purchased machine can be used. Sorry for the delay, these things happen unfortunately. Will keep you all updated.

As seen in the recent announcement by Lars, the server has finally been swapped over to the new one which is operating on the recently purchased upgrade/full machine. As said in early announcement and posts on the forum, I hope this investment for the community turns out to be as rewarding as anticipated. Optimistically, I have already received reports from various players about how "smooth" it feels in game. Time will tell (when server population begins to increase) if the investment turns out to be a good idea or not.
I genuinely hope it turns out to be a positive step forward for the sake of the community's experience on this mod, game, and server.
