So, to begin, prepare for a long read. Also, keep this thread serious. This is for the benefit of the community. Now, the ruleset we currently have is too damn long. It's easily loopholed, and the staff grow tired of dealing with some of the cancer that goes on. So, as such, I'd like to develop a new ruleset. The next post here will be what I have so far. Some suggestions/feedback would be appreciated.

Keep in mind that common sense should be applied to all rules. The Infinity staff team reserve the right to issue punishments felt appropriate to any player(s) who fail to follow these rules. The right to interpret these rules as they see fit is held by the staff team members, with all final rulings, in the occurrence of disagreements, will be under the jurisdiction of Head Admins, or the Server Owner.
It is YOUR responsibility as a player to know and follow these rules. Failure to do so may result in character wipes or bans!
1. RDMing (Random-Deathmatching)
You may not attack another player(s) without a valid in-game reason.
Reason you may attack a player are, but not limited to, the following:
- They have attacked/halted you. - They have attacked/halted a member of your faction. - They are in a faction you are at war with. - They are assisting a faction you are at war with. (I,e. A doctor healing an enemy faction member) - They have made a hostile gesture towards you. (I,e. Holding an attack at you *Screenshot required*) - They have threatened you with death (Admin discretion) - They have stolen items, or gold from you. - They are destroying you or your factionβs property. (Screenshot needed, includes gates to castles) - They have failed to comply with a valid demand. (See Demand Rules.) - They are interfering in your war. (Screenshot/Video needed) - They have insulted you in local chat. - They have kicked/punched/horse bumped you twice.
Family 'tags' of players (Using similar names but being in separate factions) no longer grants a kill reason! Join the same faction, or be held accountable!
*Note* You can't have a kill reason for something out of the game, such as on TeamSpeak. You can't call for help outside the game. All kill reasons must come from in-game interaction.
These kill reasons only last for 10 minutes, until you die or until the other player dies that you have a kill reason on.
(If you, or the other player logs out, you lose this kill reason.)
2. Combat Logging
You may not log out or "Alt+F4" to avoid death in any way, shape, or form. After combat, if you kill your opponent(s), you can safely log out, otherwise you must wait 10 minutes - with no renewed conflict during this time.
Forms of combat log include, but are not limited to:
- Logging out while in combat/Combat situation. (Being Halted for example) - Logging out while falling/jumping to your death.
*Note* You may not combat log even if you feel a rule is being broken against you. This is for an administrator to decide - if you combat log to escape an RDM, you'll be punished as well!
3. NRR (No Revenge Rule)
- You may not seek out and kill a player who has killed you simply out of revenge. - You may not incite a hostile situation with someone within 5 minutes of them killing you. This does not apply to war. (See RDM rules).
Hostile situations you may not incite on your previous killer include, but are not limited to:
- Stealing of horses/items - Using a 'no loot' demand to attack - Returning and punching/kicking your previous killer
If a player has killed you, you may not incite hostilities by ignoring a no loot demand - constant abuse of the 'No loot' demand will result in punishment.
4. Discrimination/Harassment/Impersonation
All reports of harassment will be taken seriously by Infinity staff - false complaints/ban baiting will result in severe consequences.
You may not constantly follow a player and berate, halt, or grief another player. You may not pretend to be someone which you are not, for instance pretending to be an admin whilst you are not, or having faction tags equipped when you are not in that faction. You may not post or release personal information about the player that is not well known within the community.
5. War Rules
No specific reason to war others is needed. Though, you must clearly state your reason in global chat prior to warring. Factions without capture points, such as shops, cannot be warred. You must have at least half (50%) of players in the aggressor faction be in a controlled castle, or mercenary camp. No players from the aggressor faction may be in the defending faction's castle, or land. (Includes Farms) All banners (100%) must be faction controlled castle walls, or mercenary camp, prior to war being declared. All combat that was initiated prior to the end of any given war, may be pursued to completion. (If peace is done mid-melee, you may continue the fight until hostilities end) There must be a valid attempt to capture an enemy castle within 15 minutes of the declaration. Spawn killing for prolonged periods of time will not be tolerated, nor may you delay a capture attempt to spawn kill a faction You may redeclare a peaced war within 30 seconds. You may redeclare wars at will - however, after two (2) redeclares from either side, there must be at least periodic - and legitimate - capture attempts, every 10 minutes. (Sending a naked with a banner is not acceptable, administrator discretion applies) Administrators reserve the right to end continuous wars as they see fit.
Any kills done on non-warring players in a war/skirmish zone, or any area where two or more factions are fighting, will be investigated on a case by case basis.
6. Demand Rules
Players are permitted to issue/enforce demands on other players. Guidelines/prohibited behavior is detailed, but not limited to, the following list:
All demands of 'halt' for the purpose of robbery or telling someone to leave must include the players name, or their faction name. ("Halt Clarky," "Halt Tyrell/Baratheon/Templars/Lannister/") You may only halt a player/group of players once every ten (10) minutes. You must give a player five (5) seconds to comply with a 'halt' demand. You must give a player ten (10) seconds to comply with any other demand. You may not stack multiple demands at once. (Halt Clarky, dismount, sheathe, show pouch all at once is not permitted - 1 demand per line.) You must allow the full time allotted for demand compliance before attacking. (Attacking on the 6th second after a halt demand, or 11th after any other demand) Demands made must be clear enough to understand. (Admin Discretion) You may not demand a player to break the rules of the server, to leave the server/module, or to insult/provoke others. You may not demand that a player complete an act that is impossible. (I,e. "Drop all" when a player has 0 in their pouch) You may not make a demand that results in unavoidable death or injury to another player.
7. Imprisonment
You may only imprison someone for a maximum of 15 minutes. You may not kill a prisoner if their faction does not pay a ransom. You may only imprison people who are trespassing on your land. In the case of imprisonment, all demands formulated to the prisoners MUST BE reasonable. Demands may not be used to abuse the system and to bait for kill reasons. Admins reserve the right to decide if a demand is reasonable or not.
8. Theft/Robbery Rules
Anyone may demand 100% of a playerβs pouch, and their horse. Outlaws may rob armor and items. If a player follows your demand, you may not kill him. All robberies must follow the guidelines of the ruleset (See RDM, and Demand rules)
9. Glitching/Exploiting
Abusing scripts to gain an unfair advantage is strictly prohibited. (For example, using a shield when capturing a castle to avoid damage is explicitly illegal.) Carts may not be used to obstruct or inhibit other players. For example, using a cart to obstruct movement in a siege scenario. Horses may not be used to block spawns. This will be taken on a case by case basis.
10. Faction/Player Names
Administrators reserve the right to have any player or faction to change their name. Offensive sames, such as racial slurs, are prohibited from faction/player names. Refusal to change your faction/character name upon administrator request will bring a minimum of a 1 day ban.
11. Administration
When a player is in an 'admin sit' (In which a complaint is being dealt with), they may not be killed for any reason. All kill reasons expire and/or invalidated when a player enters talks with an administrator. Killing of a player in an admin sit will result in a minimum of a two day ban if deemed to be done with intent. This will be taken on a case by case basis.

The ruleset we currently have is almost 7 pages in Word, with TNR and 12 pt font. My ruleset above, with the same settings and spacing between rules cut down, is barely onto a 4th page. Would like to cut it down more if possible tbh.
Thoughts?

I still believe only outlaws should be able to rob for all gold while only factions can tax up to 2500. I also believe that players should be able to capture other players and bring them to their castle to imprison them. I will update if anything else comes to my mind.

A few things:
1. I think that if this is the same version of Phoenix scripts Royal used, it should tell you when gates are being broken, so you wouldn't really need a screenshot in that case? 2. If you log underwater it will spawn you back with no gear and 1 health so you can probably just take that one out. 3. "You may not post or release personal information about the player that is not well known within the community." I take issue with this because this just allows you to add fuel to the fire of a cancer. For example, say somebody had your facebook and was spreading it around, I am then allowed to continue to spread it just because many people already know it? The admins should nip that kind of thing in the bud and try to stop all further spreading. 4. The war rules are a complete and total mess. Under it, I am allowed to declare with 50% of my people within an enemy castle. If I attack a castle and lose, and its been 15 minutes, I'm not allowed to regear and push? It was much better under a new push must be renewed every 15 minutes, under these rules this isn't an option, and there are countless instances of people losing on the first assault and regearing and doing it again. Not being able to re a re is a completely retarded and stupid rule, wars should be determined to be prolonging on a case to case basis, not this drivel. If faction a attacks faction b, but peaces as they lose, faction b redeclares and faction a goes for another push, and then faction b as they are getting capped decide to peace, well, under these rules you can't rewar can you? That is nonsense. Furthermore, there is no rule about how long I have to be peaced, so I could just say "well, I'm not re-ing a re, I'm just declaring. There's no rule against waiting how long I have to to declare." Also, this shouldn't really even be a thing in the first place. Advantages are gained and lost within a few minutes, a good clan leader can capitalize on them immediately, but rules that limit when you can and can't go to war only make everybody in one clan pissed that they only missed their ability to curb stomp their enemy because the admins said "uh you cant war because...war!" because in that timespan the other faction was able to amass a bunch of pubs and clan members to deter an assault.
You are thinking in terms of an admin and not a clan leader, and as somebody who has been and may very well be a clan leader in the future, these rules have more holes in them then swiss cheese and the packers defence.

1. Take out insults in global chat, that's just retarded. If I insult Hedge and he's 100 miles away from me in Holy Lands, hiding in Pordisett, and I say to him in global, "lol hedge u fucking suck" then him being able to legally come kill me is retarded. Insults should stay to local chat only. Also, you didn't put if it only had to be a personal or faction insult. If somebody says in global, "barafaggots!! I will kill u!!" does that give my entire faction a reason to gas him?
2. You haven't clarified the combat logging rules effectively. If the hostile situation has ended (See Jeff's complaint a few days ago on Baratheons 'clogging') am I allowed to log within a few seconds?
3. Under glitching, you failed to set precedents for cartblocking, class glitching, using carts to glitch through doors, etc. You used a cop-out with 'you aren't allowed to hurt other people!!' At least provide some precedents.

I know this is highly controversial but personally I feeling robbing for armor should be included for non-outlaws. I know many disagree with that statement but if you outnumber or outsklill someone you find on the road, what's stopping you for taking the clothes off their backs?
I do admit I am partially biased towards this but at the same time everyone benefits from this. It encourages group play and can lead to interesting encounters in between wars.

Its not bias at all, we take advantage of what we have to our advantage, Baratheons can get a 30 man entourage with Meli and do the same, nothing stops you. Well maybe the fact that everyone hates you. Public relations has nothing to do with the rules if you try to use "everyone will war us and everyone hates us" as a excuse. Tyrell, Templar and Imperial can all do the same.

People say this is highly controversial, if I recorded a day with the RCC halting party 8/10 times the person fails to comply and loses their gear anyway, the other 2/10 times they lose 10k+. I do agree with Pico, it should be a test rule for sometime to see what comes of it.

I'd rather not have what happened on Celestial after banks were removed to happen on Infinity. The RCC ruled the server; As previously stated, they're all mounted on chargers with tin, giving those 5 or more members of that 'halting party' the ability to run around the server halting any poor sod for their gear doesn't seem like a good idea to me --- Or should it for anyone.

You are thinking in terms of an admin and not a clan leader, and as somebody who has been and may very well be a clan leader in the future, these rules have more holes in them then swiss cheese and the packers defence. First and foremost, thank you for the feedback. 1. You're correct actually, thank you for catching an oversight of mine. This list began as the community ruleset I had worked out in the forums on EU Oasis. Will correct it. 2. Same as above. 3. How would you write that rule then Roy? Lets be honest - some things are clearly not harassment - I,e Quake's name is Chris - it's in his steam name and on his profile. This is clearly visible to the community, so I'd never ban a player for calling him Chris in-game. 4. Few things : - I lowered the amount from 70% to 50% to make it more of a 'round' number. I personally think making players do math to figure out if they need 12 rather than 11 players in a castle to declare - 70% just seems so arbitrary. Would 75% be more agreeable? - This ruleset originally allowed the perpetual wars the EUs preferred - no limits on redeclares, only required attacks every 10 or 15 minutes to force the wars along, rather than a perpetual castle camp. Again, would that be what the clans would be interested in? I had thought the clans were the ones who did NOT want that, so pubs couldnt constantly war them to keep them on the server. - As it sits theres an unwritten policy of not being able to re a re on this server - I'd personally like to see it as written as above. ^ I am thinking of this in terms of an admin, this is true. This is why I made this post - I won't force rules upon the community if they dislike them. This is far easier than pushing a ruleset up, and having it be changed every week. ~M

I'll leave that until I have some further feedback on it. 2. "After combat, if you kill your opponent(s), you can safely log out, otherwise you must wait 5 minutes - with no renewed conflict during this time." - I left a 5 minute period of time here. I,e. If you're fighting RCC cav in the field and you gas all of their horses, you can log. This was actually supposed to be 10 minutes, and the length of time for kill reasons reduced to match at 10 minutes. Thoughts? 3. Lol forgot about that section tbh. Will add, of course. ~M

I agree. I'm against giving item robbing to non-outlaws. It not only ruins the point of the outlaw faction, who already have the disadvantage of shittier classes, but gives clans a massive advantage that they shouldn't have - groups of tin on horses making people drop armor. I'd prefer to leave that as is, as per past precedents. ~M
